Winemaker Notes

Showing true expression of its varietal, this is a 100% pure, rich, classic Cabernet Franc showcasing savory aromas of dried herbs, black tea leaves, fresh tobacco all intertwined with sweet, red berry fruits and nuances of barrel spice. With a lively inner-mouthenergy through a beautifully balanced acidity this Cabernet Franc is both vibrant and sexy with a smooth, refined texture, suave tannins and a clean, velvety, persistent finish. Drinking beautifully now this Cabernet Franc will become even more delicious withsome age for the patient among us.

A 100% varietal wine, this offers a depth of earthy mushroom and forest, especially on the nose, before expansive waves of juicy raspberry and blackberry take over on the palate. Enjoyable now, it reveals a touch of dried herb and violet as it progresses in the glass.

Cornerstone Cellars, California
Cornerstone Cellars Winery Image
In 1991 Michael Dragutsky embarked on a quest to deliver on the potential he saw in a select few of Napa Valley’s finest mountain and benchland Cabernet Sauvignon vineyards. Since that time, Cornerstone's signature winemaking style of firm structure and nuanced texture have attracted an ever-growing number of Cornerstone Cellars admirers while remaining true to Napa’s robust, delicious wine profile on the world wine stage.

Twenty-six years in, the next generation of Cornerstone Cellars sales and winemaking teams bring to market a diverse portfolio of Cabernet Sauvignon wines –of which each one delivers a focused flavor profile - with realistic pricing to match. Now more than ever, they are resolved to implement a long-term brand development strategy and to constantly renew their commitment to that original winemaking ideology and style.

Undoubtedly proving its merit over and over, Napa Valley is a now a leading force in the world of prestigious red wine regions. Though Cabernet Sauvignon dominates Napa Valley, other red varieties certainly thrive here. Important but often overlooked include Merlot and other Bordeaux varieties well-regarded on their own as well as for their blending capacities. Very old vine Zinfandel represents an important historical stronghold for the region and Pinot noir is produced in the cooler southern parts, close to the San Pablo Bay.

Perfectly situated running north to south, the valley acts as a corridor, pulling cool, moist air up from the San Pablo Bay in the evenings during the hot days of the growing season, which leads to even and slow grape ripening. Furthermore the valley claims over 100 soil variations including layers of volcanic, gravel, sand and silt—a combination excellent for world-class red wine production.
