The wine perfectly captures both, the vintage and the synergy between our two sites. Rose hip, black cherry, and sweet savory aromas point to the natural richness of the year in its amped up expression. On the palate, chiseled cassis, raspberry and violet flavors pulse with energy, onto a layered graphitic infused bed of fine tannin. Even with all of its aromatic and flavor explosiveness, there is a level of translucence and energy that elevate the wine.

A blend of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Franc and the rest Petit Verdot that saw plenty of cofermentation, the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Ov|Sl comes from two properties, one in Stags Leap and one in Oakville. It’s another incredible wine from this estate that’s in the same league as the 5500 release, yet is much more serious, backward, and structured. Lead pencil shavings, graphite, black cherries, charcoal, and hints of blueberries all flow to a full-bodied, concentrated, tight 2015 that has massive amounts of fruit and extract, yet stays pure, balanced, and seamless. Hide bottles for 4-5 years and enjoy over the following two decades.

The OV/SL is a blend of fruit from Futo's two estate properties in Stags Leap and Oakville. The first vintage of this wine was 2012. The 2015 Proprietary Red OV/SL is blended of 68% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Merlot, 11% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot. Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, it opens with notions of warm plums, crushed blackberries and cassis with hints of baking spices, spearmint and red roses plus a touch of cardamom. Medium to full-bodied, the palate delivers tons of spicy black fruits with a plush texture and loads of peppery sparks, finishing with a refreshing lift. It was bottled unfined and unfiltered, and 674 cases were produced.

Futo Wines was established in 2002 by Tom and Kyle Futo of Wichita, Kansas. The Futo estate vineyards and winery are located in the western foothills of the Oakville appellation. There are five distinct estate vineyard blocks that span more than half a mile along the hillside. Cabernet Sauvignon is the predominating varietal, though several acres consist of Cabernet Franc, as well as a bit of Merlot and Petit Verdot. Since 2005, the best fruit from the estate is vinified, culminating in a wine they simply call "Futo."
