    Winemaker Notes

    Sticking your nose into a glass of this 2010 Riesling is like smelling a freshly baked apple pie that's been sprinkled with cinnamon and nutmeg, with bits of pear and citrus thrown in. Relatively low in alcohol, the wine's bright, off-dry flavors are appley and zesty, with refreshing lime, spice and mineral tones enlivening the finish.

    This wine makes a fine accompaniment to seafood, poultry and pork dishes, as well as spicy Asian and Caribbean cuisine.

    In 1962, Daniel C. and son Daniel J. Gainey purchased an 1,800 acre ranch on the eastern end of the Santa Ynez Valley. The Gainey Ranch, a combination of cattle, farming, and Arabian horse breeding, became the largest diversified ranching operation in the valley.
