Ripe mulberry, black cherries and white pepper on the nose with layers of ripe berry fruit and spiciness on the palate. This is a big structured wine with juicy mid-palate and ripe, but firm tannins on the finish.
This wine can be enjoyed with rich casseroles or hearty stews.
International Wine Cellar
Dark, bright red. Aromatic nose combines blackberry, white pepper and mocha, along with a chocolatey richness. Silky and sweet on the palate, but with good energy to the slightly medicinal mulberry and chocolate flavors. Not a gamey style of shiraz. Suave tannins and harmonious acids give this a solid structure.
The Wine Advocate
Raised for 15 months in 70% French and the rest in American oak, the 2007 Game Reserve Shiraz has a ripe plum and mulberry scented bouquet with a slight reductive scent in the background. The palate is medium-bodied, the American oak noticeable on the entry lending it a chocolaty tincture, but it is well balanced on the finish.
Graham Beck wines is now entering its third generation as a family winery. It was established in 1983 when entrepreneur Graham Beck purchased Madeba farm outside the Western Cape town of Robertson with a fervent ambition to establish a world-class winery in this region. The success of the Robertson winery has been extended to the second Graham Beck cellar in Franschoek, one of the oldest winemaking regions in South Africa.
