    Somm Note

    Winemaker Notes

Bright aromas of fresh strawberry, cherry pie and subtle cinnamon spice notes. The aromas lead to a juicy palate with flavors of red raspberry, strawberry and notes of rose water. The flavorful palate is highlighted by sweet vanilla notes and well-balanced with bright acidity.

Greg Norman Estates Morgan-Leigh and her Father, Greg Winery Image
Greg Norman, known as much for his entrepreneurial spirit in the boardroom as his dominance on the golf course, is arguably the most successful athlete-turned-businessman. His unyielding approach to both golf and life earned him the nickname, The Great White Shark. Created from a family passion and strengthened by determination, Greg Norman Estates, founded in 1996, is a collection of fine wines sourced from stunning wine regions in California, New Zealand, and Greg's homeland of Australia. The selected growing regions are appreciated for the incredible wines they produce and the personal influence they have had on the Norman family over Greg's many years professionally touring the world. A strong believer in the role of wine as part of an active, easygoing lifestyle, Greg's aim is to produce approachable yet bold wines to be enjoyed by family, fans and wine enthusiasts alike.

Pinot Noir is the second-most planted grape in Santa Barbara County, just behind Chardonnay. It thrives in cooler areas of the region, namely in the of the Sta. Rita Hills, which is part of Santa Barbara’s larger Santa Ynez Valley sub-appellation. Thought for decades to be too cool for viticulture, Sta. Rita Hills began to gain notoriety in the 1970’s, thanks to the pioneering work of Richard Sandford and Michael Benedict, among others.

Santa Barbara Pinot Noir dances across the palate with vivid red fruit and spice. Precision, bright acidity, elegance and fruit-driven silkiness make Santa Barbara Pinot delightfully enjoyable, whether on their own or with a variety of dishes.
