Winemaker Notes

The 2007 HALL "Kathryn Hall" Cabernet Sauvignon is crafted predominantly from the fruit of the illustrious Sacrashe vineyard, exuding the dark, dense, powerful character of this distinctive vineyard site.

Heady aromatics of black spice, blackberry and freshly turned earth launch into a loaded palate of dark plum, briar fruit, leather and smoke. Dense yet sweet tannins lend grip and cadre. Crafted at our gravity-fed HALL Rutherford winery, the HALL "Kathryn Hall" Cabernet Sauvignon is undeniably complex and enticing, and will gracefully evolve for 12-15 years.

One of the richest Cabernets of the vintage. Amazingly soft and velvety in the mouth, yet there's a solid grip of acidity and tannins that balance the richness. The flavors are extrodinary, ranging from blackberry and cherry-pie filling through currant liqueur and milk chocolate to leather. So decadent now, it's hard to resist, but should develop for 4-6 years.

The gorgeous 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon offers up notions of bay leaves, new saddle leather, black currants, blackberries, and spring flowers. Dense, full-bodied, and opulent, with superb purity and length, but no hard edges, it should age effortlessly for 15+ years. Range: 91-93

One of the most prestigious wines of the world capable of great power and grace, Napa Valley Cabernet is a leading force in the world of fine, famous, collectible red wine. Today the Napa Valley and Cabernet Sauvignon are so intrinsically linked that it is difficult to discuss one without the other. But it wasn’t until the 1970s that this marriage came to light; sudden international recognition rained upon Napa with the victory of the Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars 1973 Cabernet Sauvignon in the 1976 Judgement of Paris.

Cabernet Sauvignon undoubtedly dominates Napa Valley today, covering half of the land under vine, commanding the highest prices per ton and earning the most critical acclaim. Cabernet Sauvignon’s structure, acidity, capacity to thrive in multiple environs and ability to express nuances of vintage make it perfect for Napa Valley where incredible soil and geographical diversity are found and the climate is perfect for grape growing. Within the Napa Valley lie many smaller sub-AVAs that express specific characteristics based on situation, slope and soil—as a perfect example, Rutherford’s famous dust or Stags Leap District's tart cherry flavors.
