Winemaker Notes

The 2019 Rosé features aromas of guava, ripe kiwi and watermelon rind. On the palate, this Grenache-based blend imparts notes of tropical fruits, feijoa and pink grapefruit, with a bright and crisp minerality.

Delicious on its own, this wine also pairs well with prosciutto and melon, salmon and light pasta dishes.

Professional Ratings

  • 93
The nose on this rosé blend of 65% Grenache, 19% Mourvèdre and 16% Picpoul Blanc is extremely inviting, offering cherry and strawberry as well as chalky aromas. That talc-like crushed white-rock minerality is firm on the palate, framing the strawberry-flesh and rosewater flavors.

Whether it’s playful and fun or savory and serious, most rosé today is not your grandmother’s White Zinfandel, though that category remains strong. Pink wine has recently become quite trendy, and this time around it’s commonly quite dry. Since the pigment in red wines comes from keeping fermenting juice in contact with the grape skins for an extended period, it follows that a pink wine can be made using just a brief period of skin contact—usually just a couple of days. The resulting color depends on grape variety and winemaking style, ranging from pale salmon to deep magenta.

Covering the Santa Lucia Range in the northwestern portion of the greater Paso Robles appellation, the Adelaida District AVA reaches from 900 feet to over 2,000 feet in elevation. The appellation does well with Rhone and Bordeaux varieties as well as Zinfandel.
