Winemaker Notes

Complex aromas of black cherry and blackberry are balanced with subtle anise and violet nuances. The layered flavors of ripe dark berries and dried flowers transition into hints of black tea and minerals, followed by a lingering silky finish.

Hartford Court's 2010 Pinot Noir Land's Edge Vineyards brings together fruit from Far Coast and Seascape, a blend that works very nicely. Far Coast gives the body and structure, while Sea Scape contributes aromatic delineation and energy. There is an element of lift and sheer nuance in the Land's Edge that is wonderful. Here, too, I find superb precision in the flavors.

Deep ruby. Pungent aromas of black fruits, licorice, violet and fresh herbs, with slow-building spiciness. Then dense and lush on the palate, showing a seductive sweetness to the flavors of dark berry and cherry preserves, minerals and black tea. This palate-staining, vivacious pinot finishes with lingering spice and smoke notes.
