Based on the 2015 vintage, the latest rendition of Selosse's NV Extra-Brut Grand Cru Les Carelles is one of the more tightly coiled wines in the range, unwinding in the glass with aromas of golden orchard fruit, clear honey, beeswax, white flowers, walnuts and vin jaune. Full-bodied, ample and concentrated, with a deep core of fruit that's primed to explode with a bit of age on cork, it's racy and concludes with a long, penetrating finish.

The NV Extra-Brut Le Mesnil sur Oger Les Carelles (2015) is bright, refined and wonderfully articulate. Candied lemon peel, dried herbs, mint, sage and baked apple tart are finely cut in this nuanced, finessed edition of Les Carelles. Vinous intensity meets Mesnil energy. Anselme Selosse is arguably the most influential Champagne winemaker of the post-World War II generation. Selosse studied in Burgundy, and brought a vineyard-centric focus to Champagne during an age of big houses and little attention to viticulture. Selosse’s further experimentation with wood aging, gentle oxidation, and low dosage created a new style of Champagne, and helped to launch the modern grower Champagne movement.
