    Jason-Stephens, California
Jason-Stephens Winery is located in the southern part of Silicon Valley which is in the Santa Clara Valley AVA. It is a leading high-tech winery with automated sorting systems, automated cap management, and other varied advanced winemaking equipment to ensure premium quality wine production from the historic growing region. The winery was founded by Jason Goelz who is also the winemaker. The Stephen of Jason-Stephens is Stephen Dorcich, the vineyard owner and vineyard manager, who planted the vineyard in 1986. Initially, Jason consulted with Stephen in managing the wines and sales of the wines to other high-end wineries in Napa and throughout California. That led to the eventual building of the winery on the property and the beginning of the partnership between the two. The winery opened at the end of 2008 and has been consistently growing since then.

The success of the winery is driven by the balance in the wines’ structure. Their philosophy for the wines is to express the fruit aspect in the flavor and aromas as wine is a derivative of grapes. Their barrel selection ensures oak attributes without overwhelming the entire flavor profile. Great structure is derived from the acidity and smooth tannins. The overall balance mixed with a velvety texture and refined flavor is what makes these palate-crafted wines a memorable and enjoyable experience.

Unapologetically bold, spice-driven and jammy, Zinfandel has secured its title as the darling of California vintners by adapting well to the state's diverse microclimates and landscapes. Born in Croatia, it later made its way to southern Italy where it was named Primitivo. Fortunately, the imperial nursery of Vienna catalogued specimens of the vine, and it later made its way to New England in 1829. Parading the true American spirit, Zinfandel found a new home in California during the Gold Rush of 1849. Somm Secret—California's ancient vines of Zinfandel are those that survived the neglect of Prohibition; today these vines produce the most concentrated, ethereal and complex examples.

Home to some of California’s most influential winemaking pioneers of the late 1800s, Paul Masson and Charles Lefranc, the Santa Clara Valley AVA hugs up against the southwestern border of today’s famous Silicon Valley and excels in the production of bold reds, as well as some whites.
