Winemaker Notes

This classical Graacher Himmelreich Auslese is an excellent example of an elegant Mosel Riesling Auslese. It shows a fascinating interplay between crispy fruit aromas and flavors, an expressive minerality and a fine acidity. This wine has a long aging potential and will develop even more harmony and finesse in the years to come.

Critical Acclaim

WS 94
Wine Spectator

A savory and delicate style, with well-integrated passion fruit, apple compote and Key lime pie flavors. Zesty acidity and notes of chive and green herbs give this plenty of snap. Candied mango notes linger on the plush finish. Drink now through 2034.

ST 92
International Wine Cellar

Pale golden yellow. Lively aromas of peach pit, honeysuckle and candied lemon. Bright and spicy, but with a velvety, creamy texture to its plush papaya fruit. Herbal essences heighten the pleasingly ripe, supple finish. Not a showy wine but a lovely auslese.

J.J. Prum
For centuries the Prüm family has called the village of Wehlen home. The 33.5 acre estate consists of nearly 70% ungrafted vines. Holdings are in the best parts of the top Middle-Mosel sites: Wehlener Sonnenuhr, Zeltinger Sonnenuhr, Graacher Himmelreich, Graacher Domprobst, Bernkasteler Lay, Bernkasteler Badstube, and Bernkasteler Bratenhöfchen. Average annual production is 13,000 cases. The harvest at J.J. Prüm is always extremely late, and the wines are very long-lived.
