Winemaker Notes

Of ruby red color, the wine shows hints of mature red berries, tobacco and spices accompanied by vanilla notes coming from the aging in French oak barrels

On the nose it is both elegant and complex. This Cabernet is a, mouth filling wine showing good structure with very soft tannins due to an optimal grape picking time at the vineyards. The wine is ready to be enjoyed now and has a cellaring potential of 10+ years.

Grape Varieties: 98% Cabernet Sauvignon / 2% Malbec

The Wine Advocate

Kaiken's 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon Ultra is reticent aromatically but with coaxing reveals aromas of cedar, spice box, floral notes, black currant and blackberry. Medium- to full-bodied on the palate, it has generous quantities of spice, layered fruit, as well as good balance and volume. It is slightly short in the finish which prevents an outstanding rating. It can be approached now although it is likely to evolve for 1-2 years.

Lauded Chilean winemaker Aurelio Montes traveled across the Andes to make these wines, just like the Kaiken bird does when it migrates.
