Winemaker Notes
A deep ruby color in the glass, the wine greets the nose with fruit aromas of raspberry, black plum and currant, with violet, orange peel, cedar, leather and forest floor. Flavors of dark fruit – black cherry, plum and currant –up front on the palate are joined by bramble and cedar with some tobacco and leather. This is a bold wine with full fruit, balanced acidity and smooth tannins. A long, lingering finish boasts big fruit and spicy, toasty oak.

A warming climate has made truly light and delicate Pinot Noir from the U.S. a rarity; moreover, producers are increasingly that are overtly sweet and not very Pinot-like, so those who prefer red wines with less heavy fare like fish and chicken have a problem on their hands. King Estate has offered a much-needed solution with this serious, dry expression that offers precise aromas and flavors on a fresh and focused platform. It's particularly impressive given its price tag, and it only gets better with aeration.
