This has a plush array of red and dark plums that lead to a palate with a rich, smooth array of tannins that carry to a long, succulent and velvety finish. A blend of merlot and cabernet franc. Try from 2022.

Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, the 2016 La Fleur d'Arthus reveals delicate kirsch, raspberry leaves and black cherry scents with hints of roses and new leather plus a touch of cigar box. Medium-bodied, soft, refreshing and elegantly styled, it has a lovely, quiet intensity and perfumed finish.

La Fleur d'Arthus, France
Located in the commune of Saint-Sulpice-de-Faleyrens, at the foot of the southern hillside of Saint-Emilion, Fleur d'Arthus has been under the ownership of Myriam and Jean-Denis Salvert since 2000. This ten-hectare family estate rests on a gravelly and sandy soil. The vineyard, composed of 70% Merlot and 30% Carbernet Sauvignon, is cultivated with the greatest care throughout the year, always with respect to nature, in order to obtain a fruit of high quality. Modern methods such as leaf stripping and green harvesting promote the maturation of the grapes and enable the harvest to occur under the best conditions.

At the time of the harvest, a team of 15 people pick the grapes by hand and then sort them thoroughly to retain only the most beautiful fruit. The winemaking takes place in a traditional vat room; after 15 months of aging in new barrels, the wine is bottled without sticking or filtration to preserve its natural qualities.
