Winemaker Notes

Ruby red with purple reflections. The bouquet has beautiful and complex aromas of black currant, dried plums and Indian tea. This is a complex, vibrant, focused wine has refreshing acidity and ripe fruit. Made with 100% Barbera.

Will age well for 10 to 15 years. A great pairing for all kinds of appetizers and soft cheeses.

Critical Acclaim

ST 91
International Wine Cellar

Darker red than the 2010. Showier aromas of black cherry, plum and licorice, plus a chocolatey ripeness. Rich, plush, seamless and sweet, delivering glossy, chewy dark fruit flavors. Finishes subtle and impressively long, with very fine-grained tannins. Distinctly richer than the 2010 bottling but maintains its balance.

WS 90
Wine Spectator

Very pure, offering black cherry and wild berry notes augmented by balsamic and earth accents. Intense, with fine grip and a lingering aftertaste of menthol and tobacco. Drink now through 2016. 6,600 cases made.
