Winemaker Notes

Los Dos is bright ruby-red with violet hues and has pleasantly intense and complex aromas of subtle black cherry fruit and balsam. A full, well-structured, silky mouthfeel and lingering finish.

This wine pairs well with grilled steaks, pizza, lasagne, roast leg of lamb or stuffed piquillo peppers.

Blend: 85% Garnacha, 15% Syrah

Critical Acclaim

RP 87
The Wine Advocate

Almira's 2010 Los Dos is a blend of 85% Garnacha and 15% Syrah fermented and aged in tank. Blue and black fruits, pepper, and incense inform the nose of this savory, layered red. It is a very good value meant for drinking over the next 3-4 years.

Red wines predominate in the DO of Campo de Borja, with Garnacha playing a leading role. Syrah, however, is not often seen in this part of Spain. Though common in the Rhone Valley, blending Syrah with Garnacha was an unusual winemaking decision which has set Almira apart from other wines of this area.
