Mendoza is Argentina’s key wine-growing region with a production of grapes that represent 60% of the national production. In the Uco Valley, surrounded by the Cordon del Plata at the foot of Los Andes, lay the vineyards that make up Marcelo Pelleriti Wines. Vista Flores in Tunuyán, is the heart of the region, it has a continental climate, with 200mm of rain per year. Its soils are rich in minerals and ideal for growing Malbec and other black varieties.

The vineyards are spread over lots between 1 and 3 acres to maintain the traceability of the vineyard. Old Vine Malbec is chosen for its low yielding, high quality and excellent adaptability to the soil. The terroir of the region is evident with in the quality and character of the wine, a unique character that cannot be found anywhere else in the world. Some of the best wines in Argentina are produced in this region.

Marcelo Pelleriti, has managed to become a benchmark for worldwide enology. His career has led this young Argentine professional to stand among the best and today it is the only Latin American winemaker to obtain 100 points Robert Parker. Has over 30 vintages of experience between Argentina and France, learned to play the vineyard, and achieve excellent results in the production of its wines which are recognized worldwide.

Marcelo is currently winemarker at Monteviejo winery, located in the field of Clos de los 7 in Tunuyan, one of the privileged areas for viticulture in Mendoza. For over 15 years aimed at Bordeaux vintages of Chateau La Violette and Chateau Le Gay, both owned by the Pere-Verge family like Monteviejo. All his experience became Marcelo a renowned winemaker in the world of wine. In 2013 he achieved what many dream, reaching 100 points by the leading wine world critic Robert Parker. The perfect score was for its wine, Chateau La Violette 2010, a Merlot produced in Pomerol. Pelleriti was the first Argentine winemaker to receive such recognition. In addition, he also received 99 points for its blend Merlot / Cabernet Franc Chateau Le Gay.

Unapologetically fun and distinctively fragrant, Torrontés is regarded as the signature white grape of Argentina. In many ways it bears a striking resemblance to Muscat (and in fact is an offspring of Muscat of Alexandria). Sommelier Secret—If you’re in search of a new summer sipper, look no further than Torrontés. These wines are always inexpensive, delightfully refreshing and are best enjoyed in the sunny outdoors at a picnic, poolside or on the porch.

As Argentina’s oldest wine-producing province, La Rioja’s focus is on the white variety, Torrontés Riojano. Here the large cooperative, La Riojana, makes several styles: an aromatic dry one, a late harvest, and a sparkling version.
