Mastrojanni Brunello di Montalcino 2001
Very pretty plum and floral aromas follow through to a full-bodied palate, with fine tannins and a berry and licorice aftertaste. A refined, balanced wine. Best after 2008. 4,000 cases made.
Mastrojanni’s 2001 Brunello di Montalcino opens with suggestions of flowers, spices, herbs and a note of alcoholic sweetness on the nose. Medium in color as well as body, it is a pretty, refined Brunello, with a soft, supple personality, showing outstanding persistence in an understated style, with fine tannins and a juicy note of sweetness on the finish. It is a lovely Brunello to enjoy now and over the next 10-12 years. Anticipated maturity: 2006-2016.
A zippy, snappy wine with forest berry and menthol freshness, bitter tea tannins, ripe blueberry flavors and background aromas such as resin and wet slate. A big Brunello nose with a medium-length finish.
