    Winemaker Notes

The Sharp Sisters Red Blend is crafted in a New World style with the same artistry and craftsmanship Mercer Estates utilizes in their award-winning portfolio of wines. This wine is fun, forward and meant to be enjoyed among family and friends, just as Carma Sharp-Mercer and her sisters would have wanted.

Washington State Merlot is supple but retains its structure and minerality in our region due to the cooler climate. This is why it was selected to be the main component of this voluptuous blend being paired up with Syrah and a touch of Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot. This blend shows a beautiful nose of cherry and raspberry mixed with chocolate. In the mouth flavors are concentrated red and dark fruit, with "Herbes de Provence." The mouth feel is supple, rich and full with excellent length.

Blend: 50% Merlot, 34% Syrah, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Petit Verdot

Mercer was the founding member of Washington’s highest accoladed AVA, Horse Heaven Hills. Their vineyard at one time included, and still adjoins, the source of Washington’s first Parker-rated 100 point wines. Mercer Ranch was homesteaded by the Mercer family in 1886 and was planted to vines in 1972. The family still supplies grapes to some of the state’s leading wine brands, as well as its own Mercer Family Vineyards label, which consistently produces Cabernet Sauvignons rated 90+ by the leading wine critics.
