Merry Edwards Meredith Estate Pinot Noir 2009
Pinot Noir from Russian River, California

Here’s a Pinot to put into your cellar. That’s if you can keep from opening it now and savoring the deep, spicy flavors that are so captivating. Offers up layers of cherries, cola, pomegranates, mushrooms, Indian spices and minerals, not to mention a deft touch of sweet, smoky oak. Wonderful tannins and brisk acidity provide balancing structure to the richness. The finish is long. Drink anytime from now through 2017.
Bright red-ruby. Highly perfumed aromas of blueberry, white pepper, bitter chocolate, rose petal and blood orange. Silky on entry, then seamless and light on its feet, with tangy intensity to the flavors of blackberry, violet and pepper. Lovely creamy underlying sweetness here, but graceful and shapely too. The vibrant rising finish features very fine-grained tannins and lovely length and grip. Really leaves the taste buds vibrating. Lovely use of whole-berry fermentation here.
