Pinot Noir from Russian River, Sonoma County, California
The 2001 vintage was characterized by an early spring with premature heat spikes. Temperatures in July normalized; however, the vines still experienced an early bloom. August cooled, ensuring cold nights and aromatic ripening, and small amounts of rain in September created an incentive for additional hang time. The wines are well concentrated with strong fruit, powerful tannins and a well protected acidity.

Peter and Su Hua Newton purchased one square mile of tumbling slopes high up on Spring Mountain overlooking St. Helena in 1977. The Estate was planted to Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot.
