Winemaker Notes

Penfolds Bin 389 champions this unique Australian wine style. The structure and definition of Cabernet Sauvignon coupled with richness and depth of Shiraz align, courted by the prudent use of American oak. It is a wine that epitomises Penfolds' winemaking pholosphy and the art of multi-district blending.

51% Cabernet Sauvignon, 49% Shiraz

Critical Acclaim

ST 91
International Wine Cellar

Saturated ruby. Cherry-cola, blackberry, vanilla and pungent spices on the nose, with a floral overtone building with air. Smooth, expansive dark berry preserve and cherry-cola flavors are brightened by tangy acidity and show impressive depth. Turns sweeter on the finish, with the cherry and vanilla notes lingering.

WS 91
Wine Spectator

Expressive and deftly balanced, playing its bright, ripe currant and blackberry fruit against hints of basil and espresso on the appealingly transparent frame. Drink now through 2021.

Penfolds
Penfolds has been producing remarkable wines since 1844 and indisputably led the development of Australian fine wine in the modern era. The introduction of Penfolds Grange in 1951 forever changed the landscape of Australian fine wine. Since then a series of stand-out wines both white and red have been released under the Penfolds masthead.

Peter Gago, Penfolds Chief Winemaker and only the 4th custodian of Grange, relishes the opportunity to bring Penfolds to the world stage... View More
