Winemaker Notes
Terroir-driven minerality remains the signature of this vineyard, with aromas of bakery, vine and apple blossom, dry honey, yellow ‘Chartreuse' elements, hazelnut and sweet pear. Accents of Manda- rin orange, acacia, honey and vanilla complete the elegant bouquet. Presenting wonderful concentration and elegance on the palate, the wine is sculpted, rich, intense and creamy. Notes of citrus oils, white peach and lemon meringue frame the minerality. Its bright acidity and minerality will allow it to age well for two decades, much like its Burgundian cousins from Puligny-Montrachet.

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2012 Chardonnay La Carriere gave the Morlets everything they wanted – great quality and abundant quantity. There are over 2,500 cases of this magnificent wine that flirts with perfection. The harvest occurred a month earlier than it did in 2011, and the result is a wine with terrific acidity and freshness, and amazing delineation for its full-bodied, powerful, opulent, corpulent style. There are lots of orange blossom, poached pear, white peach and pineapple notes in this big, rich, definitive Chardonnay that should drink well for a decade. Range 96-98.

Wine Spectator
Combines amazing richness and sharply defined fruit in a sleek, tapered style that's graceful and elegant, unfolding to offer honey-laced green apple, pear, peach and fig notes shaded by smoky, toasty oak and ending with a long, sustained finish. Drink now through 2020.

James Suckling
This is solid as a rock with a lovely, dense texture and gorgeous apple, lemon cream and vanilla. Full body with a balance of acidity and ripe fruit. Mineral. Slate. So intense. Drink or hold.

In 1982 Sir Peter and Lady Margaret Michael built the Peter Michael Winery on a square mile of rocky volcanic ridges that form the western face of Mount St. Helena in Knights Valley, Sonoma County, California. The estate vineyards rest on steep hillsides ranging in elevation from 1100 to nearly 2000 feet. Of the nearly 600 estate acres, only about 20% are planted to grapes. Peter Michael Winery is best known for single-vineyard and estate grown Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and a Cabernet Sauvignon cuvee of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. The Peter Michael Winery remains true to its commitment to growing classic grape varieties in small mountain vineyards in order to produce great wines using classical winemaking techniques. Given this covenant to the product, only a limited quantity will ever be available.
