Somm Note

Winemaker Notes

Intense ruby color with garnet hints. Intense aromas of red fruit with well-harmonized spicy notes given by aging in wood. The taste reflects the sensations experienced on the nose, balanced, very persistent, with fine tannins.

A delicious, fruity red with cherries, orange peel and hints of stone and chocolate. It’s medium-bodied with round tannins and a clean, focused finish. This shows integration and focus for this region. Very well made. Drink or hold.

Podere Montale was founded in July 2014, but finds its true beginning in the first harvest in 2015. Their plan is to become a benchmark for the whole community of Seggiano and Montecucco production area.

The history of Podere Montale comes to life in 2014 with Silvio Mendini. Since the beginning his will and ambition gave the farm its own identity. It doesn't have to identify itself in a single person, but in the people who allow this reality to grow and create products of excellence.

They are committed to giving back to nature what it gives them to accomplish with every harvest.

To do this, they apply the principles of conservation agriculture to keep the vineyard balanced with the important ecosystem of more than 50 hectares of surrounding woods.

The reason is to protect the biodiversity treasure typical of the natural equilibrium. This setting allows them to have agronomic practices with minimal impact.

Legendary in Italy for its Renaissance art and striking landscape, Tuscany is also home to many of the country’s best red wines. Sangiovese reigns supreme here, as either the single varietal, or a dominant player, in almost all of Tuscany’s best.

A remarkable Chianti, named for its region of origin, will have a bright acidity, supple tannins and plenty of cherry fruit character. From the hills and valleys surrounding the medieval village of Montalcino, come the distinguished and age-worthy wines based on Brunello (Sangiovese). Earning global acclaim since the 1970s, the Tuscan Blends are composed solely of international grape varieties or a mix of international and Sangiovese. The wine called Vine Nobile di Montepulciano, composed of Prognolo Gentile (Sangiovese) and is recognized both for finesse and power.
