Robert Foley Vineyards Claret 1998
This tiny 250-case lot from Pride Mountain Vineyards' winemaker, Robert Foley, exhibits exquisite concentration, balance, and harmony. This opaque purple-colored blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Merlot reveals aromas of licorice, creme de cassis, blackberries, and iron. The wine is full-bodied, rich, and exceptionally well-balanced. This impressive offering can be drunk now and over the next 15 years.
Saturated dark ruby. Aromas of blackberry, violet, bitter chocolate and licorice, along with pungent oak spice. Lush and silky for a '98 but with an impressively coiled spring of berry fruit thanks to lively acids. Classic mountain-style fruit bomb. Finishes very long, with substantial but sweet tannins that reach the far corners of the palate.
