Winemaker Notes

Deep ruby. Black cherry jam with earth, smoke, tea, violets and vanilla. Full bodied, long and silky with black cherry and vanilla.

Critical Acclaim

WS 92
Wine Spectator

Openly fruity, with plum, black cherry, mineral and spice notes that show a touch of cedar. Medium- to full-bodied, retaining its delicate profile. Drink now through 2017.

V 91
Vinous / Antonio Galloni

The 2009 Pinot Noir Estate is a gorgeous, sensual wine. Sweet red cherries, flowers and spices waft from the glass in the layered, exquisite Pinot. Rochioli's Estate Pinot is easily one of the very finest wines in its price range. A long, silky finish leaves a lasting impression. This is all polish and elegance. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2016.

ST 91
International Wine Cellar

Bright ruby. Powerful black raspberry and cherry pit aromas are complicated by sexy oak spices and a hint of mocha. Lush and round, with dark berry and candied licorice flavors enlivened by tangy acids and firmed by dusty, fine-grained tannins. Finishes sweet and very long, with a silky texture and smoky floral and herbal notes.

WE 91
Wine Enthusiast

This is Rochioli's basic Pinot Noir. It's a beautiful wine, marked by great structure and accessible fruit. Near-perfect acids and tannins lend it elegance, while the cherry and cola flavors have a rich touch of smoky oak.
