Winemaker Notes
A structured, harmonious Blanc de Noir sparkling wine made from Pinot Noir and Meunier grapes, Cuvée Katharina is named after the younger daughter of Volker and Heide-Rose Raumland. The elegance of the Pinot Noir is complemented by the power and fruit of the Meunier. Subtly smoky notes, walnut and brioche combine with fruity notes of dark berries and slightly floral hints. Dosed as Brut Nature, the cuvée is very pure, acidic and firm, yet has a creaminess and fresh texture.

In 1990, Sekthaus Raumland was founded by Volker Raumland, often described as the pioneer / the grandseigneur / the Sektpapst in Germany. Volker Raumland is the one who dared to start a new “quality revolution” in German Sparkling Wine. The two daughters Marie-Luise and Katharina are joining the family estate in 2020, continuing with the same passion and love for high-quality German sparkling wine that their parents had and still have.
Sekthaus Raumland is purely focused on the production of Sekt and thus the whole work is organized around and adjusted for the elaboration of the most delicate and finest sparkling wines.
Representing the topmost expression of a Champagne house, a vintage Champagne is one made from the produce of a single, superior harvest year. Vintage Champagnes account for a mere 5% of total Champagne production and are produced about three times in a decade. Champagne is typically made as a blend of multiple years in order to preserve the house style; these will have non-vintage, or simply, NV on the label. The term, "vintage," as it applies to all wine, simply means a single harvest year.
