    Winemaker Notes

This wine represents a passion for Pinot Noir from the Serral plot. Constant innovation. The Pinot Noir vineyard of the two highest plots on Serral hill. Calcareous soils with a clayey sandy texture and a high volume of round pebbles, shallow and with a low organic material content. It offers fresh, aromatic wines with appreciable volume.

A new project from the Raventós family (of the iconic Raventós i Blanc estate) which is inspired by a book written by Jaume Raventós in 1989, "La Vida al Camp." The book is a reflection on his childhood experiences on the farm in Sant Sadurní d’Anoia. He is an ancestor of the Raventós family and it is a beautiful expression of life on the Penedès farms back then, and how farmers of the region worked their land with respect and love. Vins de Terrer are vinified with farmer friends of the region and who share the same feeling of passion and vision for nature as the Raventós family.

Whether it’s playful and fun or savory and serious, most rosé today is not your grandmother’s White Zinfandel, though that category remains strong. Pink wine has recently become quite trendy, and this time around it’s commonly quite dry. Since the pigment in red wines comes from keeping fermenting juice in contact with the grape skins for an extended period, it follows that a pink wine can be made using just a brief period of skin contact—usually just a couple of days. The resulting color depends on grape variety and winemaking style, ranging from pale salmon to deep magenta.

A superior source of white grapes for the production of Spain’s prized sparkling wine, Cava, the Penedes region is part of Catalunya and sits just south of Barcelona. Medio Penedès is the most productive source of the Cava grapes, Macabeo, Xarel-lo, and Parellada. Penedes also grows Garnacha and Tempranillo (here called Ull de Llebre in Catalan), for high quality reds and rosès.
