    Andreas Resch is the fifth generation winemaker at Weingut Resch. It was started by his great (several times) grandmother in 1873 when she was 36 years old. A widow no less, but determined to save her bankrupt estate and create a life for her children with a sustainable business, she single handedly founded Weingut Resch. This sparkling cuvée (which sometimes he makes as a Blanc de Noirs) is named after her.

    Our Wine Estate and its Vineyards are located in Wiltingen, one of the most important Wine cultivating Areas in the Saar-Riesling-Region. The Estate was founded 1873 by Anna Lioba Resch and is now being operated in the fifth generation by Franz Andreas Resch and his wife Monika. All the essential manufacturing procedures in the Wine cellar and Vineyards are carried out manually in the tradition of the family. Every work process is performed with patience and accuracy which reflects the personal note of the Winery Owner. The quality of work and production manifests itself in the extraordinary taste of our Wines. We dedicated ourselves to ecological Cultivation, because of our respect and awareness for the nature which has been a principal of our family business. High quality Wines can only arise out of healthy Vines and Soil, therefore we hardly interfere into the natural environment. We sustain the natural vegetation in order to conserve the health and vitality of the Vineyard. After all this is the fundament of our Wine Estate.Our main aim is to preserve the typical character and authenticity of Saar-Riesling Wines. As a result the created Riesling Wines are delicate but intensive, fruity, mineral-bearing, classical, imaginative and have an intended low alcohol percentage.

    What are the different types of sparkling rosé wine?

    Rosé sparkling wines like Champagne, Prosecco, Cava, and others make a fun and festive alternative to regular bubbles—but don’t snub these as not as important as their clear counterparts. Rosé Champagnes (i.e., those coming from the Champagne region of France) are made in the same basic way as regular Champagne, from the same grapes and the same region. Most other regions where sparkling wine is produced, and where red grape varieties also grow, also make a rosé version.

    How is sparkling rosé wine made?

    There are two main methods to make rosé sparkling wine. Typically, either white wine is blended with red wine to make a rosé base wine, or only red grapes are used but spend a short period of time on their skins (maceration) to make rosé colored juice before pressing and fermentation. In either case the base wine goes through a second fermentation (the one that makes the bubbles) through any of the various sparkling wine making methods.

    What gives rosé Champagne and sparkling wine their color and bubbles?

    The bubbles in sparkling wine are formed when the base wine undergoes a secondary fermentation, which traps carbon dioxide inside the bottle or fermentation vessel. During this stage, the yeast cells can absorb some of the wine’s color but for the most part, the pink hue remains.

    How do you serve rosé sparkling wine?

    Treat rosé sparkling wine as you would treat any Champagne, Prosecco, Cava, and other sparkling wine of comparable quality. For storing in any long-term sense, these should be kept at cellar temperature, about 55F. For serving, cool to about 40F to 50F. As for drinking, the best glasses have a stem and a flute or tulip shape to allow the bead (bubbles) and beautiful rosé hue to show.

    How long do rosé Champagne and sparkling wine last?

    Most rosé versions of Prosecco, Champagne, Cava or others around the “$20 and under” price point are intended for early consumption. Those made using the traditional method with extended cellar time before release (e.g., Champagne or Crémant) can typically improve with age. If you are unsure, definitely consult a wine professional for guidance.

    Following the Mosel River as it slithers and weaves dramatically through the Eifel Mountains in Germany’s far west, the Mosel wine region is considered by many as the source of the world’s finest and longest-lived Rieslings.

    Mosel’s unique and unsurpassed combination of geography, geology and climate all combine together to make this true. Many of the Mosel’s best vineyard sites are on the steep south or southwest facing slopes, where vines receive up to ten times more sunlight, a very desirable condition in this cold climate region. Given how many twists and turns the Mosel River makes, it is not had to find a vineyard with this exposure. In fact, the Mosel’s breathtakingly steep slopes of rocky, slate-based soils straddle the riverbanks along its entire length. These rocky slate soils, as well as the river, retain and reflect heat back to the vineyards, a phenomenon that aids in the complete ripening of its grapes.

    Riesling is by far the most important and prestigious grape of the Mosel, grown on approximately 60% of the region’s vineyard land—typically on the desirable sites that provide the best combination of sunlight, soil type and altitude. The best Mosel Rieslings—dry or sweet—express marked acidity, low alcohol, great purity and intensity with aromas and flavors of wet slate, citrus and stone fruit. With age, the wine’s color will become more golden and pleasing aromas of honey, dried apricot and sometimes petrol develop.

    Other varieties planted in the Mosel include Müller-Thurgau, Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir) and Weissburgunder (Pinot Blanc), all performing quite well here.
